I love to
travel and read. Spending time and laughing with my family and friends makes me
happy. I am married and have three daughters and two cats. This is my 11th year
at CMU and I enjoy my job. Some of the best parts include working with the CMU
students, watching the children grow and communicating with the families. I
also couldn't ask for a better group of Colleagues to work with! I truly
believe the early childhood field is the best place to be.

I have been working at CMU for twelve years, nine of them
at the Child Development and Learning Lab.
I first started out as an Office Professional and then became a Lead Teacher
after I graduated in 2007 with an Elementary Education degree, minoring in Early
Childhood. Because of my interest and passion in education, I continued on,
graduating in 2010 with a Masters in Guidance and Development. I am currently a
member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, North
American Reggio Emilia Alliance, Michigan Inspirations and participate in the
local MPAEYC chapter as their President-Elect. I am also a co-advisor of
the Student Association for the Education of Young Children’s group on campus. As I continue to grow as a professional, I
find that I am more and more inspired by the work that the people in Reggio
Emilia are doing with young children, as well as the Constructivist approach. I live in Mt. Pleasant and love everything it
offers. My husband Scott and our
children, Justin and Elliana, enjoy the parks, going for walks, movies, and
having the opportunity to go to different events CMU offers.

thrilled to be a part of the CDLL team and look forward to a fantastic year!
Mt. Pleasant has been my home for the past 41
years. My husband and I enjoyed raising
our three sons in the atmosphere of a small town, different from our home town
of Jackson. Graduating from Central Michigan University, I
received degrees in secondary education and early childhood. I have worked in the early childhood field
for twenty-four years. Professionally I
participate at the national, state, and local levels of the National
Association for the Education of Young Children and participate at other
conferences throughout the United States.
Several trips to early childhood conferences in Reggio Emelia, Italy,
have been a highlight of my professional development. My
favorite pastime is being outdoors, walking, biking, and playing ball with my

worked with the Head Start program for 22 years before becoming a member of the

active by practicing yoga, exploring nature, traveling, reading, listening to
music and sharing these activities with my family and friends. I look forward, with joy, to continuing my work
with the Child Development and Learning Lab.
