I am a proud to be a CMU alumni where I received my degree
in Early Childhood Education. I started
working at CMU in 2001. Since then I have had the pleasure of working with an
amazing variety of CMU students, families, children and co-workers. While I enjoy every aspect of
working with children, I do have a special interest in the arts. I have been privileged to have had the
opportunity to visit Reggio and Reggio inspired schools in Italy, focusing on
the arts. I have also attended Two
National Art Educators Association conferences in the U.S. I am honored to be working at a school that
supports and highly values the importance of art in early childhood. When not at work I enjoy spending time with
my family. My husband Mark, three adult daughters and pre-teen granddaughter
Alexandra, a CDLL alumni who still enjoys being able to occasionally come to
school with me.

I hope you enjoy this poem and learn a little bit about me,
My name is Mya and I'm a junior at Central Michigan University.
I work in the CDLL either at the front desk or in the kitchen,
My goal here is to help out and be a positive role model to the children.
Gaining new experiences, learning, and exploring the world is what I favor,
Which is why I love to travel and I'm a Cultural and Global Studies major.
My minor is Sociology with a concentration in Youth Studies,
I'm from Mt. Pleasant and passionate about helping Michigan's communities.
I'm a member of many programs through the Volunteer Center here at CMU;
Lunch Buddies, Conversation Partners, and Alternative Breaks to name a few.
I'm compassionate towards the environment, animals, and humans,
So I'm friendly, I recycle, and I'm a proud vegetarian.
At 5 years old you'd find me drawing, dancing, or playing with a Barbie,
Enjoying nature by being outdoors is what I do for fun now that I'm 20.
Here teachers, students, families, and children all learning together is what you'll find,
And I'm honored to be part of this preschool, it is truly one-of-a-kind.
If I see you everyday at the CDLL, or it's your first time walking through,
I'm the really short girl with curly hair and I'd love to get to know you!
