The Center for Merchandising and Design Technology

The CMDT is a research and design facility that provides solutions to apparel and textile design problems using an innovative and multidisciplinary approach. The CMDT staff has expertise in apparel design, merchandising, textiles, engineering, and computer science. Textile testing, prototype development and evaluation, wearer trial and fit analysis are a sample of current and past projects using state of the art technologies.

The mission of the CMDT is to strengthen the quality of education, research and professional development opportunities by involving faculty and students in the development and refinement of innovative apparel merchandising and design technology, products and services. The model for educating students for careers in the 21st century includes opportunities that go beyond the classroom.
