Interim Occupational Certification
An Interim Occupational Certificate requires a bachelor's degree; completion of an approved major or minor in an occupational area; and two years (4,000 hours) of recent and relevant work experience in an occupational area verified the 'work verification' form for each employer. A Interim Occupational Certificate is good for 6 years for first time applicants.
The first renewal of your Interim Occupational Certificate requires completion of 9 semester hours in a planned course of study since issuance of temporary vocational authorization; second renewal requires completion of a total of 18 hours in a planned course of study since issuance of the Interim Occupational Certificate.
Once the application is obtained, student's must work directly with the department in which their program was signed to renew the Interim Occupational Certificate.
The Interim Occupational Certificate can be submitted on line through The Office of Professional Preparation Services, the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS).
