Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) is the national accreditor for educator preparation.

Mission: CAEP advances excellent educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation tha​t assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning.​​​​

The Professional Education Unit (PEU) at Central Michigan University has earned national accreditation until Fall 2023 by demonstrating excellence in the areas of content and pedagogy, clinical experiences, selectivity, program impact, and capacity for continuous improvement. 

The PEU is now one of 50 providers in the U.S. meeting new, rigorous CAEP national accreditation standards to better prepare tomorrow's teachers.
