We are excited to be able to offer you the opportunity to review the progress of the University wide 2023 Teacher Preparation Taskforce. In September 2013, EHS Dean Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson charged our group with the following:
Examine the best practices of teacher educators and provide recommendations on how to make our current teacher education program the premier program for the preparation of educators.
Our cross-disciplinary team has worked diligently since September reviewing research and best practices, collecting data on our program and scrutinizing other teacher preparation programs. We have read and discussed books on teacher education preparation; attended presentations on the future needs of students and teacher education programs, and held discussions with key people at the state level regarding assessment, testing, certification and requirements for our program.
We believe that we have developed with some innovative recommendations that will distinguish our program from other programs and provide the best learning experiences for our students. We have tried to document both the process and rationale for our recommendations on these pages, so that you too can "participate" in our future.
On Friday, February 21st we will be holding an Educational Summit to share and discuss our recommendations with the larger community. Please join us for this important conversation.
