Through integrating new technologies, identifying and overcoming barriers to change, and providing state-of-the-art health care information and research, we strive to improve physician knowledge, competence, performance and patient outcomes for all populations throughout Michigan.
The Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) provides, develops and implements CME activities to improve clinician knowledge, competence, professional performance and ultimately patient care and health outcomes for all populations. The types of CME activities engendered emphasize clinical knowledge, research, teaching, administration and leadership.
CME activities address needs of practicing physicians, teaching faculty and the inter-professional health care team encompassing:
- Evidence-based medical knowledge
- Patient care and procedural skills
- Practice-based learning and improvement
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Systems-based practice
- Values and ethics
CME serves the physician and inter-professional health care that comprise the medical communities in mid- and northeastern Michigan.

- Medical grand rounds
- Regularly scheduled series
- Live courses
- Web-based CME and enduring materials
CME programs are designed to promote safety and improve patient outcomes across the multi-disciplinary clinical landscape by improving physician and the inter-professional health care team members knowledge, competence, strategies, and performance.
