We are delighted in your interest in joining future leaders in the GIScience community who received their training here at Central Michigan. To apply to Central Michigan’s MSGIScience program, first browse faculty profiles to see the kinds of research being conducted, and advisors you might want to work with. We recommend that you contact one or more departmental faculty to see what specific projects or opportunities that might be available for you. Then:

Apply online for admission to Graduate Studies:
  • Specify ‘Master of Science in Geographic Information Sciences’ on the online application.
  • Upload your resume. The ‘Additional Information’ page has a drop-down navigational bar that allows you to click on ‘Resume’ and then attach your document.
  • Write and upload your Statement of Purpose. As with the resume, use the ‘Additional Information’ page drop down navigation bar titled ‘Statement of Purpose’ and then attach your document. Your Statement of Purpose should be approximately 500 words and address both of the following two questions: What are your career goals? How will the MS GISci program at Central Michigan help you accomplish those goals?
  • Upload unofficial transcripts under ‘Unofficial Transcript in English.’
  • In some cases, international students are required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. That can also be done on the ‘Additional Information’ page.
