Application for admission to graduate program and application for financial support are two separate processes.

  • The Applications for financial support from the Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences should be completed by February 15 to be guaranteed full consideration. For details see the 'Graduate Assistantships Application' below

To Apply for Admission to any Graduate Program in the Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences: Required documents for every program are:

  • Statement of Purpose
  • Official Transcripts
  • TOEFL (for international students)

TOEFL requirements:
All prospective students who are not citizens of a TOEFL-exempt country must submit a satisfactory test score on the TOEFL or IELTS. Score requirements: 79 or 6.5 on the TOEFL/IELTS for regular admission, 61-78 or 5.5 and 6.0 for conditional admissions. To submit your official TOEFL scores to the College of Graduate Studies, click here and request your scores to be sent to Central Michigan University using code #1106.

For questions about Graduate Admissions:

Note that it takes the College of Graduate Studies up to 4 weeks to process an application and forward it to the Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences. The admission application will be evaluated within 2 weeks after the complete application material is received by the department. The deadline of admission consideration is the same as the university’s deadline: at least six weeks prior to the deadline of registration period. The exact date varies from year to year. It is usually around the middle of June. The late applicants should contact the Graduate Coordinator of the Department for further details.

If an applicant also applies for graduate financial support, Full consideration is guaranteed for applicants who submit all materials before February 15. Application materials received after February 15 are evaluated on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. Please plan accordingly so that your application material is received before the department application deadline.
As a graduate student, you'll have opportunities to apply for financial assistance through Graduate Assistantships offered by the Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences.

  • General GRE
  • 3 letters of reference
Procedure of submitting the required additional documents for financial support to the Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data sciences:

  • Complete the form: STAD Graduate Program Application (WordDoc or Fillable PDF) and e-mail the completed form as an attachment to Graduate Committee at stadgrad@cmich.edu with the subject line on the email: Graduate Program Financial Support Application by (last name, first name)
  • Arrange for the GRE Exam Agency to send the official copy of the general GRE scores directly to the Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences. The institution code for Central Michigan University is 1106 and the department code is 0705
  • Arrange for three letters of reference to be sent directly to Graduate Committee at stadgrad@cmich.edu with the subject line on the email: Letter of Recommendation for (last name, first name)
