The Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences offers a BS/BA major in Actuarial Science, a BS/BA major in Statistics, and a minor in Statistics. The course work includes foundation courses in mathematics, statistics and actuarial science, application courses in applied statistics, business and modern data analytics, and courses to prepare for four actuarial exams. Graduates have found careers in a wide variety of industry, insurance companies, business, government and agencies.

Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences are among the highest job demands in all STEM disciplines and are considered among the high-salary professions with great job security and vast opportunities.

Ninety percent of CMU students receive financial assistance through scholarships, grants and loans. CMU distributed more than $227 million in financial awards based on achievement, work study opportunities and student need in 2008.
