The Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences offers a BS in Data Science, a BS/BA major in Actuarial Science, a BS/BA major in Statistics, a minor in Actuarial & Risk Analytics, and a minor in Statistics. The course work includes foundation and applications of up to date modern knowledge and skills in computational technology, data science, statistics, and courses to prepare students up to four actuarial exams. In particular, along with the major in Data Science, there are nine analytics minors cross four colleges for students to choose as their designated area of application for data science. Graduates have found careers in a wide variety of industry such as auto industry, insurance companies, business, government and agencies.

Ninety percent of CMU students receive financial assistance through scholarships, grants and loans. CMU distributed more than $227 million in financial awards based on achievement, work study opportunities and student need in 2018.

So what does this mean for you? It means that you can have access to a great education through local, state and national merit-based and need-based programs and scholarships.
