B​​​​​​​​​​To apply for admission to the graduate program in biology, you must complete steps 1-3. Step 4 is optional, but strongly encouraged.

1. Application for admission to Graduate Studies. 

  • Specify "Conservation Biology" on the application if you wish to pursue this degree option.
  • Include official transcripts from all previously attended universities.
  • Enclose a Statement of Interest. Describe your general fields of interest and proposed subjects of research, past experiences (coursework, training, etc.) that relate to your fields of interest, and professional goals. Identify Department of Biology faculty members with whom you wish to work.

2. Arrange to have your GRE (general test only) scores sent to Central Michigan University

3. Apply to the Department of Biology Graduate Program


Send the completed Grade Point Calculation Form and Advisor Acceptance Form, Statement of Interest, and arrange to have three (3) recommendation forms/letters sent to:

4. Apply for a Teaching Assistantship in the Department of Biology

(Strongly Encouraged)
  • To be considered for a CMU-funded TA or RA, all university and program required application materials need to be submitted and available to the review committee by February 1st.
  • Teaching Assistantship Applicat​ionmust be received by the Department of Biology no later than February 1 (see form for mailing address).
