Students that participated in the CMU, Delta College, or SVSU embedded environmental research projects (2014-2018) are invited to participate in the 2018 Student Summit on Beaver Island. 

The summit will provide an opportunity to present the environmental research findings collected by students, as well as opportunities to network and connect with other participants. 

Former students and interested community stakeholders will participate in the following Summit events: 
  • Faculty from Delta College, Saginaw Valley State University, and Central Michigan University will present hands-on activities to showcase the environmental research-based experiences. 
  • Students from these courses will present research findings and be on-hand to describe their contributions to the research activities. 
  • Opportunities to participate in sampling excursions in and around the CMU Biological Station, identification of macroinvertebrates, and water quality analysis procedures using specialized equipment, including hand-held colorimeters and probes.

for the 2018 summit is expansion of the water quality research projects for the next generation of scientist. Invited to participate are college, high school, and middle school educators. 

DATE: 5pm Thursday Aug. 9 TO 4pm Saturday August 11, 2018 

LOCATION: CMU Biological Station, Beaver Island, MI 

COST & LOGISTICS: Participants will be transported on the 2:30 PM ferry out of Charlevoix MI, provided 2 days/nights room and board at the biological station, including all ground transportation, and a return ferry to Charlevoix after the 4 pm conclusion of the summit. Total cost to participant is a $25 (non-refundable) special conference fee due at time of registration.
