How to apply

Applications are submitted in two parts, as described below. All materials must be submitted by the deadline for an application to be considered. Download and complete this print-friendly checklist to ensure all materials are submitted before the deadline.

Part 1: Complete the Graduate application forms and submit the following required materials

Part 2: Complete Neuroscience Program application forms and submit the following required materials
  • Neuroscience Supplemental Application
  • Three recommendation letters
    • Letters should be written by people who know you in an academic and/or research setting
    • Download the Recommendation for Admission Form
    • Email the form to each person providing a recommendation. Ask your recommenders to include a completed form with any additional letter
    • Ask your recommenders to submit the completed recommendation to Letters of recommendation must be emailed directly from those writing the recommendation
  • Official GRE scores (use CMU code 1106, Neuroscience code 0213 - submit to
    • MCAT scores may be submitted in lieu of GRE scores

Deadline: January 5

Note:  Fillable forms must be opened in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. Forms opened in mobile browsers, Chrome, or Firefox might not save your data. If your computer is not compatible for downloading these forms, then you may want to print out the application materials and then scan the completed forms or mail them in.
