Hang Le, 2009 CMU alumna from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, says she felt welcomed by the CMU community the moment she set foot on campus.

“I felt CMU was very welcoming, especially to international students,” Hang says. “CMU staff are very helpful and constantly promote the diverse cultures. One of my favorite things was being able to showcase my own culture through many different activities such as International Night and the International Expo.”

Hang, who now works as a consultant at Deloitte & Touche, says one of the most notable differences between her culture back home and the culture of Mount Pleasant was the food. She says resources and events like Leadership Safari and the Office of International Affairs helped to ease her transition to the U.S.

“I highly recommend CMU to all international students,” Hang says. “CMU offers many scholarship programs that help fund part of the tuition. CMU also has a strong support system that nurtures diversity and makes students feel at home.”

Hang says CMU’s welcoming campus still feels like home for her today. She cherishes the relationships she built during her time at Central.

“I still keep in contact with many professors and staff members who helped me throughout my six years at CMU,” Hang says. “They have been there for me every step of the way.”
