Beginning early summer 2016, OIT will be transitioning CMU's faculty and staff email system to Office 365, the same email system currently used by CMU students.
This upgrade will occur following the close of the spring semester and will continue through the month of June. In order to cause the least interruption in business operations, there will not be a campus-wide migration. Instead, OIT will migrate groups of departments at a time according to the timeframe determined with input from CMU’s senior leadership. While we expect the upgrade to be seamless for most people, OIT will have technicians on location during each office’s upgrade to ensure that support resources are immediately available if necessary.
You'll see a number of benefits as a result of this upgrade:
- An significantly larger 50GB mailbox - a considerable increase from the current 4GB limit.
- Simpler and more powerful calendar sharing between faculty/staff and students - perfect for those of you with student employees.
- Better integration with your OneDrive and other CMU cloud services. Not only can you attach files directly from your OneDrive, but you can even collaborate on documents with your colleagues in real-time.
Please keep an eye on this page, as it will be kept up-to-date with relevant details, including the latest information on frequently asked questions, the departmental migration schedule, and configuration instructions you will find useful if you switch computers or purchase a new mobile device. See below for additional information.
If you run into any issues, we're here to help. Not only will we have support staff on-location during each office's transition, but the OIT Help Desk
is open late and is available if you need additional support.
