You can participate in Leadership Safari for the low fee of $125. This conference has been so valuable to student success that the Office of Residence Life covers almost every expense for each participant, including room and board costs.
This fee is not assessed until after the conference is completed and will be charged directly through the student's account. There will be no charge if the student is unable to attend the conference and notifies the Leadership Safari office prior to the cancellation deadline (07/31/15 at the close of the business day, 5PM EST).
Participants who register and do not attend all scheduled conference sessions will be required to pay the early move-in fee and other expenses related to being a delegate at this conference, totaling $400 (which includes the registration fee).This fee will also be assessed to those students who fail to fill out the final conference evaluation due the Sunday (8/30/15) after Leadership Safari ends.
There is also a "No Show" fee of $150. If there are circumstances that prohibit your attendance at Leadership Safari, we ask for advance notification via the options provided within the emailed confirmation materials. Please know that the Leadership Safari registration process is separate from the University system. Should you cancel your plans to be a CMU student, you will still need to cancel your Safari registration through our website.
Fee Waiver Program
Beginning with the 2013 Leadership Safari conference, the Leadership Safari program instituted a program aimed at students who wanted to participate in the Leadership Safari program but were concerned with the $125 cost associated with attending the conference. If you are interested in attending, have filled out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) form and it has been determined that your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) is between $0 and $5,000 per year, you may apply for a waiver for the $125 conference fee. 60/40 Scholarship Program
Beginning in 2014, through the generosity of students, alumni and local businesses, we have been able to establish a fund that will help off-set the cost of attending Leadership Safari program for those students who do not meet the waiver program criteria but still demonstrate some need. If your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) has been determined to be between $5,001 and $10,000 per your FAFSA form, you are eligible to apply for the scholarship. If selected, you would only be responsible for covering 40% of the registration fee, or $50, the remaining $75 would be covered by the scholarship. Applications for the scholarship are located here
and are due by July 3rd, 2015.
As a Leadership Safari participant, you will be able to move right in to your regular residence hall room assignment without being assessed the early move-in fee (please see the disclaimer above in the Conference Fees section).
Alcohol and other illegal substances are strictly prohibited. Failure to comply with the policies and rules established for Leadership Safari will result in immediate dismissal from the program, and you will be required to reimburse the program for breach of contract.
