Put on your walking shoes and say hi to your neighbor! CMU Residence Hall Walking Routes

Is it cold or raining and you just do not feel like going outside but would still like to get some exercise? Here is a great way to get some exercise and meet your neighbors! Walking is a familiar, convenient, and inexpensive activity that helps to reduce stress, control high blood pressure and raise the good HDL cholesterol that helps to prevent heart disease. Below are some routes outlined in some residence halls.

Sweeney Circuit: Start at the RHD office, walk down the entire first floor; take the stairs by room 108 to the second floor. Walk the entire second floor; take the stairs by 201 to the third floor. Walk the entire third floor; take the stairs by 311 to the fourth floor. Walk the entire fourth floor and then follow the same process working your way back to first floor. Complete this route 2 times and you will have walked 1.2 miles. (Thorpe Hall would be the same)

Troutman Track: Start at the front desk and proceed down the first floor of Troutman (lounge area). Take the stairs to second floor, walk the entire floor. Take the stairs to third floor, walk the entire floor. Continue this until you walk the eighth floor and follow the same process on the way back down. Complete this route 2 times and you will have walked 1.4 miles. (Carey Hall would be the same)

Larzy Loop:
Start at 101 and walk down the hallway towards 106. Take the stairs to second floor, walk the entire second floor, take the stairs by 220 to third floor. Walk the entire third floor take the stairs by 306 down to second floor. Walk the entire second floor take the stairs by 220 down to terrace. Walk the entire terrace floor, take the stairs by 005 up to first floor and walk the entire first floor (when cutting through the lobby use the ramp), when you get to the very end, turnaround and go back to the lobby. Complete this route 2 times and you will have walked 1.1 miles.
