As we conclude the Spring 2019 semester, students will begin preparing for final exams and papers. Many professors keep their students apprised of progress throughout the semester by posting grades on Blackboard, CMU's course management system. However, official final grades will be posted on the student's CentralLink account, not Blackboard.
On CentralLink, students should check their final grades and their CMU email on May 10.
Keep in mind, Federal law protects college and graduate student’s rights to privacy regarding their grades. We encourage you to have open and honest conversations with your student about their grades.
Does your students' grades need improvement?
We encourage parents to have an open and honest conversation with your son or daughter about grades and their academic performance. We know you will be supportive no matter what the final outcome is for your student.
For any student whose cumulative grade point average is below 2.00, there will be an important CMU email notification which may require timely action.
If your student needs additional help next semester, there are several resources available at the University, including:
- Contacting their Academic Advisor to discuss academic strategies, such as tutoring, the Math Center, and the Writing Center. Discuss these options and more by scheduling an appointment with Academic Advising & Assistance by calling (989) 774-7506.
- Add a course like AAD 102: College Learning Strategies or AAD 103: College Reading Strategies to their schedule for the Spring 2019 semester. These classes can really make a huge impact over the next couple of years!
- Schedule weekly or monthly appointments with a Success Coach. Success Coaches can help with building time management skills, reducing test anxiety, recognizing different learning strategies, developing success skills, and establishing goals. To book a Success Coach appointment, contact the Office of Student Success at (989) 774-3401.
