Our Graduate Assistantship Program is a point of pride for the Student Affairs division at Central Michigan University. As a graduate assistant, we value you as both a student and employee of CMU. Members of the Student Affairs Graduate Assistantship Program work in different departments within Student Affairs and represent various graduate programs. The Student Affairs Graduate Assistantship Program is a model that provides you time and space to network and collaborate. There is a housing scholarship offered through the Assistantship Program that provides the opportunity to live on-campus in the same residence hall as other graduate assistants (with no Residence Life assigned duties).

Beginning in August, our appointed graduate assistants participate in a two-day orientation session. During this time, GAs in Student Affairs will become familiar with their own department, build connections with other graduate assistants, acclimate to the campus and Mount Pleasant community, and receive training on CMU Policies and GA resources. Graduate assistants also will participate in professional development activities designed for the community that support the ACPA/NASPA/NIRSA competencies (3 per semester), and a year-end showcase experience developed in coordination with the Educational Leadership faculty.
