Spring Leadership Safari is a two-day conference designed for students who are new to CMU or entering into their second semester on campus. Spring Safari offers programs and activities grounded in leadership theory and social change. Participants will be placed in teams of 5-10 students to explore personal values and goals, experience team-building challenges, engage in volunteer activities, and more.

Participation in Spring Safari will result in increased knowledge of campus resources, creating a network of friendship and support on campus, and growth as a socially responsible leader.

Conference Fees

Leadership Safari registration costs $50. This includes admission to all Safari speakers, conference materials, lodging in your residence hall, meals, and your conference t-shirt. This fee is not assessed until after the conference is complete, and will be charged to the student's campus account in the January billing statement. There will be no charge if the student is unable to attend and notifies our office prior to the cancellation deadline (21 December 2018).

Fee Waiver Program

Students with demonstrated financial need may request a fee waiver.  If a student has an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of between $0 and $5,000 per year, as determined by the FAFSA, they are eligible for a fee waiver. Please refer to this page to apply for a full conference fee waiver.

Family Program

Spring Safari invites all parents, family members, and guests of participants to join us for a one hour Parent and Family program on Saturday, January 5th from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. in the Bove University Center Mackinac Room. This program will provide an overview of what students will gain from the Spring Safari Program, share campus resources, and open the floor to questions from families. Light refreshments will be served.
