Held each fall, the Connections Leadership Conference serves as a networking workshop for campus leaders. Through collaboration, relevant issues are discussed with the intent of making a positive impact on campus and in the community. Connections is open to all CMU students with varying levels of leadership experience. Whether a new student leader, or the president of a registered student organization, everyone can benefit from the sessions offered at the 18th annual Connections Leadership conference.
The 2017 Connections Leadership Conference will be held November 3-4 at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, MI. Located in beautiful northern Michigan, Traverse City and affords access to a variety of cultural and social opportunities. Evening social activities will be planned to help you continue to network with your colleagues.
2017 CONFERENCE THEME: REACHING NEW HEIGHTS
2017 represents a year of reaching new heights at Central Michigan University. We are celebrating the university's 125th anniversary and the 20th year of innovative leadership opportunties through the Sarah R. Opperman Leadership Institute.
The 2017 Connections Leadership Conference theme of "Reaching New Heights," challenges students to strive for continuous improvement and growth. Leadership is not a position, but rather a process. The Leadership Institute agrees that leadership is defined as "Building capacity to solve problems, create value, and thrive in a changing and challenging world (Heifetz, 2016). Let's build strong connections to help ourselves, one another, and our community reach new heights of progress, strength, and social responsibility.
Participant registration costs $75.00 for current Central Michigan University students. The Leadership Institute will not reserve your spot at the conference until payment has been received. Registration will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. After all available space has been reserved students may be placed on a waitlist.
The registration fee includes all conference materials, meals, lodging, transportation for CMU students from Mount Pleasant to Traverse City, and admission to the water park.
General registration for the 2018 Connections Conference is now closed.
However, due to cancellations, space may become available in the delegation. Please email Travell (T.O.) Oakes at firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to be placed on a waiting list.
Giving new meaning to the term "year-round resort," Great Wolf Lodge defies the weather outside with an indoor waterpark experience that has young and old soaking in the fun! Whether it's 10 degrees below or raining cats and dogs, it's always a balmy 84 degrees inside the resort's huge, 38,000 square-foot indoor waterpark. Bear Track Landing puts the emphasis on fun with 11 waterslides, six pools and a four-story treehouse waterfort. The state-of-the-art facility utilizes nearly 200,000 gallons of water that is splashed, sprayed, waved and played in.
