Examining the Link between Parent-Child and College Student-Professor Relationships
The aim of this study is to explore the link between parent-child relationships and future college student-professor relationships. There is a wide variety of knowledge on child-parent relationships and relationships children have with their teachers in primary and secondary schooling. To our knowledge, it has not yet been explored regarding how a child’s relationship with their parent can be related to their relationship with their college professor. This pilot study has the potential to provide insights useful for helping improve student-faculty relationships at the university where the data is collected as well as universities of similar composition. In addition, it can provide a starting point for future research related to the topic.
