Mary J. Henley, M.S.A.
Mary Henley has spent 15 years building award winning programs as Director of Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) and Pathways to Academic Student Success at CMU. She is a native of Flint Michigan, holds a B.A.A. in Communications, and M.S.A. in Leadership from CMU. She is recognized across the State of Michigan as an expert in her field serving first generation "at risk" youth to prepare and succeed in college. She is known for her "no non sense" direct communication style and "talking out loud" to students, parents, administrators and faculty regarding issues of college access and success. Her work has impacted thousands of students and increased the number of first generation students who graduate, move onto graduate level programs and ultimately into professional careers. Mary Henley celebrates a 30 year career at CMU which includes Training and Development in CMU's Global Campus, and Special Assistant /Commencement Coordinator in the Provost's Office. Mrs. Henley is active in her community as part of the Union Township Planning Commission, Mount Pleasant Toastmasters and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
