Chevrolet Excellence in Education Scholarship 

Chevrolet is offering some outstanding students with the opportunity for a $1,000 towards their first year of college expenses. You could be eligible for the Chevrolet Excellence in Education Scholarship.

Up to 44 scholarships are awarded to graduates of Michigan high schools that show an interest in the advancement of minorities in American societies. The scholarship is worth $4,125 per academic year. To continue to receive the scholarship you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. You must also live on campus your freshman and sophomore year and be enrolled as a full time student.

CMU Multicultural Award of Distinction Scholarships

Up to 10 Multicultural Advancement Award of Distinction Scholarships will be awarded to incoming Michigan freshmen who through past activities or educational aspirations indicate an interest in the advancement of minorities in American society. The value of this scholarship is $10,500 per academic year to be used toward the cost of tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies. The scholarship is renewable for three additional consecutive years if a 3.25 cumulative GPA and full-time continuous enrollment are maintained.

An Award of Distinction scholarship may be combined with no more than one of the following scholarships: a Board of Trustees Outstanding High School Student Scholarship, a Board of Trustees Academic Honors Scholarship, or a Leader Advancement Scholarship. Click here for the application.

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program

 Comcast offers a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors who plan to attend college. A list of eligible schools in Michigan have been informed of the 2012-2013 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program and provided the information for the scholarships. The schools will be able to nominate a student for the Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. The deadline for the program is December 7th, 2012.

A student nominated by a Principal or Guidance Counselor must:

  • be a full-time high school senior
  • demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and display leadership abilities in school activities or through work experience
  • have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher.

Community Foundation of Greater Flint Scholarship Program

 The Community Foundation of Greater Flint administers more than 75 scholarship funds established by donors primarily benefiting students across Genesee County. Scholarships range from small one-time awards to larger multi-year awards. In most cases the scholarships are designated from graduates of particular high schools and typically provide partial support toward the full cost of higher education.

Gates Millennium Scholarship 2013

The 2013 Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) scholarship application is now available. GMS will select 1,000 talented students to receive a -through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The scholarship program provide Gates Millennium Scholars with personal and professional development through their leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career. Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they:

•Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
•Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States
•Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an weighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED

Jackie Robinson Scholarship

Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.  MEA Scholarship

The amount and number of scholarships offered each year shall be determined by the trustees of the MEA Scholarship Fund. Such scholarships may be offered on a renewal basis limited to four times in a five-year period. The link below will take you to the scholarship website and application.

Ron Brown Scholar Program

The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The United Teachers of Flint Mary Christian Scholarship 

The United Teachers of Flint Mary Christian Scholarship was created to provide financial aid to outstanding Flint Community Schools' high school seniors. The UTF urges all graduating seniors to download this application and submit it before the deadline. Hard copies of the application will also be available in your counselor's office. Thurgood Marshall Scholarship

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is pleased to open its scholarship application process to all students seeking financial assistance for the 2010-2011 school year. TMCF scholarship recipients are awarded annually to students meeting the TMCF eligibility criteria for scholarship. Awards are made per semester based on a verification process designed to ensure students are meeting academic expectations and have an unmet financial need. Urban League Scholarship

The Urban League of Flint recognizes African American students from high schools throughout the county who have maintained 3.0 grade point average or better over their four high school years. About $18,500 in competitive scholarships are presented to students, the largest award being worth $4,000. Urban League Scholar Application.
