During a program called IMPACT, I was introduced to Pathways by Mrs. Henley and Mrs. Black. When I told them I was a first-generation college student, they encouraged me to join Pathways. Since I have been in Pathways, I have gained multiple skills, experiences, and an abundance of support from the professional staff. They helped me generate a four-year and time-management plan to keep me on track with classes, involvments, and studying so I can be a successful college student. I have been College Positive Volunteer trained and had the privilege to volunteer with MI GEAR-UP/Pathways. As a mentor to middle school and high school students. I have given college tours and participated in a student panel. Since I have stayed involved with Pathways, I have made a positive impact on campus and had many great opportunities to grow. I now work in the Pathways office as a professionally and personally Student Summer Assistant and I am developing daily.
