Fire Up for English

At Fire Up For English, high school students and teachers are invited to participate in the thriving community of Central Michigan University’s English Department. Join us for an engaging and interactive day at CMU’s Anspach Hall, where you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Discuss favorite books and literature with CMU English professors and students
• Participate in Creative Writing workshops taught by CMU Creative Writing professors and students
• Discover career paths for English majors
• Learn about the many annual readings, author events, and clubs in the CMU English Department
• Receive an overview of CMU English programs
• Chat with current CMU students about life as an English major
• Eat a free lunch with CMU students and professors
• Share your original writing at a culminating open mic reading
• Enjoy a performance by Daryl and the Beans, a rock band featuring three CMU English professors
