Retirement Courtesies

As emeriti/retirees of CMU, you have dedicated a significant portion of your lives and energy to Central Michigan University.  CMU is pleased to continue to offer you a number of courtesies, and extends appreciation of your outstanding contributions. These include:

 

  • ​TUITION: Emeriti/retirees are entitled to utilize the Faculty/Staff Tuition Benefit Plan. This benefit is not extended to dependents. Please contact the Benefits & Wellness office at (989) 774-3661 for more information.
  • PICTURE I.D.: Personnel at the Campus Identification Card Office on the main floor of the Bovee University Center will take your picture and prepare the identification card while you wait anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The first card is complimentary.   • PARKING PERMIT: Complimentary on-campus parking privileges continue to be available to you.   A non-expiring permit is issued that requires no renewal. You will receive information with your permit about how to replace lost permits, as well as other pertinent information. You may obtain your permit on or after your retirement date from the CMU Police Department, located in the Combined Services Building, at your convenience during regular business hours, Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Please visit the department in person; your current automobile registration and driver’s license will be requested.
  • University Health Services Pharmacy:  Emeriti/retirees are eligible to use the CMU Health Services Pharmacy located at Foust Hall 106.  The pharmacy participates with the CMU sponsored CVS/Caremark prescription plan and also with the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS) Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.  Please be aware that the plans for emeriti/retirees who participate with the MPSERS Blue Cross Blue Shield plans have some plan design differences from the plans for current employees.  Due to these differences, three month refills may not be available and step therapy programs may apply.  If the emeritus/retiree has a prescription insurance plan other than a CMU sponsored plan or MPSERS, please call the pharmacy to determine participation status.  The Health Services Pharmacy does not participate with Medicare Part D.  For further information, please contact the pharmacy at 989-774-6590. 
  • UNIVERSITY THEATRE AND SCHOOL OF MUSIC MASTER SERIES: Emeriti/retirees are invited as guests of CMU to attend University Theatre and School of Music presentations.    Tickets are required.  Complimentary tickets are available through Ticket Central located in the Events Center on Broomfield Road or by calling (989) 774-3000.  Please reserve your tickets prior to the evening of the performance as we cannot guarantee seating will be available on the nights of the performances.  Emeriti/retirees may request two complimentary tickets to each performance with the understanding that these tickets are not transferable and must be used by the emeritus/retiree and guest.
  • STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER: Emeriti/retirees may purchase memberships according to the following schedule: An individual yearly membership is $150; an immediate family (self, spouse or other eligible individual (OIE) and dependent children as determined by IRS regulations) yearly membership is $300. In addition, a nine-month individual membership is available at $130, or immediate family membership at $260; a six-month individual membership is available at $105, or immediate family membership at $210; and a three-month individual membership is available at $70, or immediate family membership at $140. Any of these plans include the use of the CHIP facility for a spouse or OEI.  Please contact University Recreation at (989) 774-3686 if you need additional information.
  • ATHLETICS TICKETS: All persons who retired prior to March 1, 1990, will receive, upon ordering, two complimentary football and basketball tickets. Tickets are available at Ticket Central located in the Events Center on Broomfield Road any time prior to the day of the game. Photo identification will be required. Tickets are not transferable and must be used by the emeritus/retiree and guest. All employees who retired on or after March 1, 1990 but prior to March 1, 2007, may purchase one or two season tickets at the discounted emeriti/retiree rate. All employees who retired on or after March 1, 2007 may continue to purchase one or two season tickets at the faculty/staff discounted price.  Chippewa Club seating will only be made available for donors at the appropriate giving level.  Football club and suite seating along with basketball lower level seats are not available at discounted prices.  This offer is subject to availability and is not available on the day of the game.  If you have any questions regarding tickets, please call Ticket Central at (989) 774-3045 or toll free at (888) 347-3872.
  • CENTRAL HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CHIP): CENTRAL HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CHIP): Emeriti/retirees who wish to use the CHIP facility for fitness purposes and do not have a Student Activity Center membership must purchase a CHIP membership. Emeriti/retirees may purchase memberships according to the following schedule: An individual yearly membership is $90; a family (self and spouse/other eligible individual (OEI)) yearly membership is $180. In addition, a nine-month individual membership is available at $70, or family membership at $140; a six-month individual membership is available at $45, or family membership at $90; a three-month individual membership is available at $30, or family membership at $60; and a one-month individual membership at $20, or family membership at $40. Daily and weekly visitor passes are available for $6 per day or $20 per week.  Rehabilitation services remain free of charge and services have been extended to spouses and dependents 16 years and older. A prescription for rehabilitation is required for evaluation and treatment.  CHIP memberships and fitness services are available to emeriti/retirees and their spouses or other eligible individuals (OEI) of CMU emeriti/retirees who have valid memberships.   • E-MAIL ACCESS: A “cmich” e-mail account is provided free of charge to all emeriti through the Office of Information Technology.  This is an automated process that will take place as soon as the account is listed in “emeritus” status by the Alumni House.  The Alumni House updates this list once each month.  Emeriti with concerns may contact the OIT Help Desk at (989) 774-3662.
  • GLOBAL ID:  Emeriti/retirees may continue to use their CMU Global ID and password to access CentralLink (the CMU portal) for a variety of news and information, including CMU Today.  For assistance, please contact the Office of Information Technology Help Desk at (989) 774-3662. 
  • CALLING CARDS, CELL PHONES: CALLING CARDS, CELL PHONES: Emeriti/retirees may use CMU Calling Cards. In addition, cell phones may be purchased through the Office of Information Technology for personal use at the CMU discounted rates. Holders of CMU Calling Cards and university-issued cell phones are responsible for paying their bills using personal funds. Emeriti/retirees who wish to sign up for these services are asked to please contact the Telecom Service Center at (989) 774-3091.
