Retirement Courtesies

CMU retirees have dedicated a significant portion of their lives and energy to Central Michigan University.  As a way of extending our appreciation, we are pleased to offer a number of courtesies. The courtesies include:

TUITION: The faculty/staff Tuition Benefit Plan is available for use by the CMU retiree. For details on the tuition benefit, visit the Tuition Benefit Program website or contact the Benefits & Wellness office at 989-774-3661 or

PHOTO I.D. CARD: The CentralCard Office issues all CMU identifications and handles the services related to the functionality of identification (I.D.) cards.  To obtain your photo I.D. card, visit the CentralCard Office. They are located on the main floor of the Bovee University Center.  Their office hours are 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The first I.D. card is complimentary, however, there is a $25 replacement fee if you lose or damage your card.  For more information, please contact the CentralCard Office at 989-774-3484 or online at

PARKING PERMIT: A complimentary on-campus parking permit enables the retiree to visit campus and use parking lots with an F designator.  The permit can be obtained on or after your retirement date from Parking Services, located at the CMU Police Department in the Combined Services building, during regular business hours, Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Your current automobile registration and driver's license will be requested.  You will receive information with your permit about how to replace lost permits, as well as other pertinent information.  The permit is renewable every four (4) years. UNIVERSITY THEATRE AND SCHOOL OF MUSIC MASTER SERIES: CMU retirees are invited as guests of CMU to attend University Theatre and School of Music presentations. To obtain your complimentary tickets, visit CMU Ticket Central located in the John G. Kulhavi Events Center on Broomfield Road or call 989-774-3045.  Tickets are required.  We also recommend you reserve your tickets prior to the evening of the performance as seating availability cannot be guaranteed on the night of the performances.  Two complimentary tickets may be requested to each performance with the understanding that these tickets are not transferable and must be used by the retiree and guest.

ATHLETICS TICKETS: All persons who retired prior to March 1, 1990, will receive, upon ordering, two complimentary football and basketball tickets. Tickets are available at Ticket Central located in the John G. Kulhavi Events Center on Broomfield Road any time prior to the day of the game. Photo identification will be required. Tickets are not transferable and must be used by the retiree and guest. All employees who retired on or after March 1, 1990 but prior to March 1, 2007, may purchase one or two season tickets at the discounted retiree rate. All employees who retired on or after March 1, 2007 may continue to purchase one or two season tickets at the faculty/staff discounted price.  Chippewa Club seating will only be made available for donors at the appropriate giving level.  Football club and suite seating along with basketball lower level seats are not available at discounted prices.  This offer is subject to availability and is not available on the day of the game.  If you have any questions regarding tickets, please call Ticket Central at 989-774-3045 or toll free at 888-347-3872.

STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER (SAC): As a retiree you are eligible to purchase a membership to the SAC Complex.  Memberships can include your immediate family members (e.g. spouse/other eligible individual, dependent child/ren). Membership costs vary by membership type. Please contact University Recreation at 989-774-3686 or visit for additional membership information and to apply for a membership.

E-MAIL ACCESS: A email account is provided free of charge to retirees with emeriti status through the Office of Information Technology.  This is an automated process that will take place as soon as the account is listed in "emeritus" status by the Alumni House.  The Alumni House updates this list once a month.  Emeriti with questions or concerns about their email account may contact the OIT Help Desk at 989-774-3662.  Non-emeritus retirees will have access to their email account for one year after their retirement date.

GLOBAL ID:  CMU Global ID and password to access CentralLink (the CMU portal) will be active for a variety of news and information, including CMU Today.  For assistance, please contact the Office of Information Technology Help Desk at 989-774-3662. 

LIBRARY ACCESS : All CMU retirees are eligible for guest user access to CMU Libraries. Emeriti employees are eligible for additional services including remote access to databases and Documents on Demand. Please contact the library’s Access Services department at 989-774-3114 if your emeriti account has expired.

CELLULAR SERVICE: Cellular service is available to retirees through CONNECT CMU Cellular Services.  CONNECT CMU provides wireless account management services and reduces the costs on wireless plans, features and devices with exclusive, negotiated rates.  Cellular accountholders are responsible for paying their bills using personal funds.
