Welcome to the Virgin Pulse Wellness Rewards Program! The program includes a complimentary activity tracking device and a plenitude of options for earning rewards.
The program is available to all benefits eligible staff, fixed-term & medical faculty, and post-doctoral research fellows.
How do I register for the wellness rewards program?
EMPLOYEE REGISTRATION PROCESS
New employees are eligible for the program once they make their benefit elections
and their information is sent to Virgin Pulse. Eligibility is sent to Virgin Pulse twice a month - usually around the 15th and 30th of the month.
Once Virgin Pulse receives the new employee's information, an email is sent to their CMU email account.
Click on the link embedded in the email and follow the prompts to complete your program registration.
You will be prompted to order your complimentary activity tracker
You can now explore the platform and online tools!

Missed the registration email? Employees can register at any time by following the
Spouse/OEI Registration steps outlined below to earn up to $100 per quarter/$400 per year.
SPOUSE/OEI REGISTRATION PROCESS
Spouses and Other Eligible Individuals (OEI) are eligible to participate in the Virgin Pulse Wellness Rewards Program if they are enrolled in the CMU BCBS medical and prescription drug plans. Once the employee is eligible and has received the registration email, spouses/OEIs can register as follows:

Fill in the requested information – fill in your name as it appears in the CMU benefits system
You will be prompted to order your complimentary activity tracker.
You can now explore the platform and online tools!
Spouses/OEIs can earn up to $50 per quarter/$200 per year.
How do I get my complimentary Max Buzz activity tracker device?
The last step in the registration process on the new platform will be to order your complimentary Max Buzz activity tracker. Follow the steps below to order your tracker.
Log into Virgin Pulse using your user name and password
Hover over your profile picture (upper right on your home page) and click on "Devices & Apps" in the drop down menu
Click on the orange Virgin Pulse Store button (upper right)
Click on Fitness Tracking Devices picture
Click on "Buy Now".
If you have not already received your complimentary Max Buzz activity tracker, the price should show as $0.00. If a price shows, you have already received your complimentary device.
Click on "Go to cart" and follow the instructions to complete your order.
You will see a confirmation message on the screen with an order number; write this number down so you can refer to it if there are issues with receiving your Max Buzz device
Your device should arrive within seven to 10 business days
How does the wellness rewards program work?
Those registered for the program will earn points for participating in a variety of healthy activities including steps recorded on your activity tracker device, tracking daily nutrition and sleep, participating in daily healthy habits and more. To find out more about how to earn points, click on "How to Earn" under the
Rewards tab on your Virgin Pulse homepage.

What happens to my account if I leave CMU?
If for any reason your employment is terminated, including retirement, your Virgin Pulse account will be canceled. Once your account has been canceled, you will have 30 days to access your account and redeem your cash rewards earned. Virgin Pulse will send you an email notifying you of the pending cancellation. A second email will be sent when the cancellation is final. Make sure your email address is up to date in the Virgin Pulse portal. Be sure to check your Junk Email folder, as sometimes the emails appear in this folder.
What happens if my CMU status changes from an eligible spouse/OEI to a CMU employee (or vice versa)?
Your existing Virgin Pulse account will be cancelled. Once your account is canceled, you will have 30 days to redeem your cash rewards earned. You will receive an email from Virgin Pulse notifying you of the account cancellation. If you are eligible for the wellness rewards program as either a CMU employee or eligible spouse/OEI, you can re-register to continue to earn rewards. Information on how to register can be found above. Sometimes the system will not allow you to create a new account and you will receive an error message indicating "an account already exists". If you encounter this issue, please contact Virgin Pulse Member Support at 888-671-9395 and they will assist with changing your account status.
When I retire can I continue to access the program?
Yes. Eligible CMU employees can continue to access the program upon retirement. Retirees can continue to earn points for tracking healthy behaviors, but they do not earn cash rewards. Employees interested in continuing their program participation as a retiree should contact the CMU Wellness Program at 774-1486 or firstname.lastname@example.org to have their status updated from employee to retiree in the Virgin Pulse program.
