All regular salaried employees whose appointments are at least one-half (½) time and who have been employed by CMU for a continuous period of five (5) or more years are eligible to apply for up to three (3) years of educational leave. Requests require the approval of HR/Employee Relations and the appropriate Vice President and are based upon consideration of specific criteria.
Approval of the educational leave with pay may be granted for a period up to six (6) months, compensated at regular base salary and retaining normal benefit coverage; or for a period of six (6) months up to one (1) year, compensated at one-half (½) of regular base salary and retaining normal benefit coverage. Employees on approved educational leave of absence are not eligible for the tuition plan providing reimbursement of tuition for classes taken at other institutions.
