WORK STUDY - Tutors

Student-Athlete Services (SAS) offers a comprehensive tutorial program for CMU student-athletes. The department hires qualified and content-knowledgeable undergraduate and graduate students to provide assistance in a wide variety of academic subject areas. Tutors are responsible for abiding by all NCAA and CMU policies and procedures while upholding the academic integrity and confidentiality in all areas of their job performance. This position reports directly to the Student-Athlete Services Tutor Coordinator.


Duties Include: Providing content-specific and general tutoring for academic coursework; aiding in the process of helping students define and utilize personal learning styles and study strategies; assessing tutee's progress throughout the semester; filing timely and accurate tutor reports at the conclusion of each tutor session; participating in the required tutor training.


Skills Desired: Qualifications to tutor content-specific courses is a minimum of B+ or better in a course or have tested out of any course that is equivalent to a course taken, whether at CMU or another institution and holds a 3.25 cumulative GPA or above. General tutors must have excellent planning and organizing skills as well as meet the GPA requirement.  Work study eligibility a plus.


Schedule: Appointments may be scheduled Sunday through Friday during SAS hours of operation.
