According to the Department of Health and Human Services, tobacco use remains the most preventable cause of death and disease in our society, resulting in 443,000 deaths each year.
If you or someone you know currently uses tobacco products and would like to quit, there are resources available, many of which are free. Learn more from the following:
- University Health Services - The UHS Pharmacy can fill prescriptions and has over-the-counter tobacco cessation products available for students, faculty and staff.
- Encompass (CMU Employee Assistance Program) - This benefit is available to all CMU faculty and staff and members of their household. Cessation resources are available online, on-site and on-call at 1-800-788-8630.
- Quit the Nic (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) 1-800-775-BLUE (2583) This program is available to all Blue Cross/Blue Shield subscribers. Participants will receive an enrollment kit.
