Position Overview: Assist the
Assistant Director of Aquatics and Safety in the development of aquatics and
Safety programming by coordinating and developing programs for members and
guests; reserve facility space and arrange guest speakers; recruit volunteer
staff; develop program agenda/timeline of events, request additional URec student
personnel; assist with developing and implementing marketing plan; communicate
registration process to program desk staff; purchase supplies needed for
program; check in participants day of event; assist with safety checks and training
classes; ensure that policies, procedures, and regulations are being enforced
to prevent accidents and hazardous situations within the aquatics areas; lead
pro-gram and activities; conduct program evaluation.
student (undergraduate or graduate), preferably a student staff member who is
currently a lifeguard with University Recreation. Prior experience working in
aquatics setting (preferred). Recreation, Parks and Leisure Administration -RPL
430: Recreation Programming (preferred). Prior experience in aquatics and
safety education preferred.
Certification, Professional Rescuer CPR, AED, O2 (highly recommend), Standard
First Aid; Lifeguard Instructor (highly recommended), Right to Know and Blood
Borne Pathogen. Must have current lifeguard or WSI certification.
