Dr. Mingyuan Zhang has been teaching at Central Michigan University for last 16 years. Prior to his teaching at CMU, Dr. Zhang taught in Australia, China, Singapore, and Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA as well. Currently, Dr. Zhang has designed and taught courses such as distance education, innovative uses of educational technology, quantitative research methods, and data-based decision making. In addition, Dr. Zhang has rich experience in running professional development workshops for K-12 school teachers. He has directed and co-directed three federal competitive education grants, covering both rural and urban schools and totaling over $500,000.00 US dollars. His research interests include but are not limited to professional development models and how K-12 teachers learn and use educational technology in teaching, management, and communication. In recent years, Dr. Zhang has also done numerous national education data mining research projects with his doctoral students. Dr. Zhang is actively mentoring his doctoral students in research and publications. In his spare time, which is not a lot, he likes to play piano and enjoys improvisation.
