Karen Haskin, MSA, RHIT, CHCO, OHCC has more than 25 years of healthcare administration experience. She is employed by Central Michigan University as the Director of Carls Center and College of Health Professions Privacy Officer. She completed her graduate degree at Central Michigan University, with a Master of Science in Administration degree with a Healthcare Administration concentration. Karen completed her undergraduate degree in Health Information Management at Ferris State University. She is a Registered Health Information Technician and a Certified HIPAA Compliance Officer and Certified Officer of Health Care Compliance. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Medical Group Management Association, and the American Health Information Management Association. She has served as adjunct faculty for Ferris State University, as well as teaches occasionally for Central Michigan University.
Karen has served as interim Director of the Health Information technology program at Mid-Michigan Community College, during which time she coordinated the process of submitting the accreditation application for the Commission on Health Informatics and Information Management Education. She has also has served in multiple health administrative rolls including CEO of Rural Health Centers, Practice Administrator, Regional Hospice Director, and Home Care Director.
Karen enjoys gardening, working out, sailing, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys coming to work at CMU, working with her colleagues and serving as a mentor and internship site for our future health administration leaders.
