Erica O'Toole attended CMU for her Bachelor's Degree in Apparel Merchandising and Master's Degree in Apparel Product Development and Merchandising Technology. She has a background in retail, but over the past few years has been teaching for CMU as an adjunct. During her time as an instructor, she learned that she has a passion for working with students and helping them succeed in their area of study, which led her to Career Services. She is currently an instructor for CMU's Global Campus teaching Dress and Culture and now works for Career Services as a Career Coach specifically working with Global Campus students. Social media has always interested Erica as she studied using social networking games in her time as a graduate student. Her thesis, "Using a Social Network Game as a Teaching Tool for Visual Merchandising", was published in the
International Journal of Online Pedagogy and Course Design. Erica works very closely with social media in the Career Services department to help students become more aware of their services and informing students about the importance of using social media when searching for a job.
