Issues in Wilderness and Remote Medicine

Central Michigan University (CMU), Global Campus and Wilderness Medical Associates® (WMA) have partnered to provide three semester hours of credit for Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. WFR is the ideal medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments.

Wilderness Medical Associates International is an organization devoted to the development of remote and practical medicine. WMA is made up of medical and rescue professionals, researchers, experienced educators, and advocates for healthcare in remote settings and hostile environments. Their cutting edge curriculum is overseen and continually revised by a committee of medical practitioners and has been taught on all seven continents. More information about their programs can be found at www.wildmed.com.
