Clarke Historical Library Exhibits
Our current exhibit looking at the history of U. S. presidents and their campaigns was timed perfectly for this year's elections. The current exhibit features genuine autographs of each and every President from George Washington to President Obama as well as a relic of the mid-Twentieth Century - The Automatic Voting Machine. If you haven't had a chance to see it, stop by the Clarke between now and the middle of January. In the Spring semester, we look forward to bringing you a retrospective of Dow Chemical Company, including their history in the City of Mount Pleasant.
Upcoming Holiday Hours
Currently in the Baber Room
The CMU Libraries are featuring artifacts from our Olga Denison collection and our J.O. Lewis lithographs created in the 1820s-30s as part of an exhibit coinciding with Native American Heritage Month. Stop by the Baber room before the end of November to see these amazing items.
The semester is winding down and the holiday season is upon us. This brings changes to the Clarke Historical Library schedule:
If we don't see you before the end of 2012, we look forward to seeing you in 2013!
We will be closed Thursday the 22nd through Saturday the 24th for Thanksgiving. We will re-open Monday the 26th.
Our last Saturday for 2012 will be Saturday, December 1.
The Clarke will be closed for an extended time from December 22, 2012 - January 1, 2013 and will reopen January 2.
Clarke Lecture Series Updates
One Tuesday, November 27, the Clarke is co-sponsoring the Mount Pleasant premier of Purple: Organized Crime in a Small Town. The documentary, written, produced, and directed by CMU faculty member Benjamin Tigner, looks at the Purple Gang organized crime syndicate and how their violent acts are so often romanticized. The film will be shown at 7:30 pm in the Plachta Auditorium in Warriner Hall on CMU's campus. This program is free and open to the public. For more information, visit this CMU Alumni Association website.
Stay tuned to the Clarke News and Notes blog for recaps and supplemental material about past speakers.
