  • Brown, George M. Family Correspondence, 1851, 1886. 1 folder. Family correspondence, mostly from Brown to his brother, Leander Brown, 1851-1881. One letter, dated Sept. 25, 1858, discusses the Civil War draft movement, while another, dated July 23, 1859, mentions typhoid fever. Bio: George M. Brown lived in Amity, Monroe Mills, and Knox County (Ohio), while Leander Brown lived in Pulaski (Jackson County, MI).
  • Daley, Thomas. Company book, March-April 1865, 1v., of Daley and John A. Mack, military agents in Detroit (Mich.), listing conscription money and substitution pay for soldier who enlisted in the US. Army during the Civil War.
  • Eldred, Alphonso B. 1 item (1 page). Certificate of exemption from draft, Jan. 3, 1865. Bio: Eldred, of Climax (Kalamazoo County, Mich.) proved he had furnished a substitute, named Charles Wood.
