The Clarke Historical Library holds an extensive record of photos created by Central Michigan University photographers throughout CMU's history. They span a wide range of subjects including academics, administrative activities, sporting events, social club and fraternity events, the built environment, as well as headshots of CMU faculty and staff.
Most of these photos are black and white negatives sorted by year. Most all of these photos have yet to be digitized, and are not available through any website. The Clarke has complied an index of the titles and subjects of each negative. Below are links to the lists sorted into five-year periods that you can browse through, starting in the year 1965. All photos before 1965 came to the Clarke Historical Library without the year listed, so these photos have been separated into different subseries. You can navigate through the pages below to browse the titles and subjects or use your web browser's "find in page" (e.g., ctrl+f) tool to search for keywords.
Should you find a picture you want to view, contact the Clarke Historical Library (989-774-3352) with the reference information and we will work with you to produce reproductions. Note: The Clarke generally charges $5 per image scan for high-resolution reproductions.
