University Library Donation Policy

  1. Donations of materials to be considered for inclusion in the university library collection are welcome from faculty, emeriti, students, alumni, staff, and community members.
  2. Materials that are donated to the university library become the property of the library.
  3. Donated materials are reviewed by the Collection Development department and relevant subject librarian(s). Decisions to accept donated materials into the university library collection are based on the criteria in the current collection development policy for the relevant subject area(s).
  4. Material that does not fit the scope and focus of the collection development policy is not added to the collection. These items will be donated to Better World Books, at the library's discretion. Go to http://www.betterworldbooks.com/info.aspx for more information.
  5. Gifts of periodicals are not accepted in lieu of the purchase of subscriptions by the university library. Only scholarly journals and periodicals to replace missing or defaced issues will be considered.
  6. Please see Donation Procedures for more information.
