Procedures for Requesting an Individual Study Room

  • Use of study ​rooms is limited to current Central Michigan University's faculty, staff, students and emeritus.
  • Requests for study room assignments are available on our website.
  • All applicants will be notified of a decision by email.
  • The key for your study ​room is located at the Checkout Desk located on the 2nd floor of the library. CMU ID cards are required at check-out.
  • Accepting the key indicates you agree to abide by the library's study room policies. 

Policies Governing the Use of Individual Study Rooms

  • First time use of your key requires filling out an Individual Study Room Key Receipt form.
  • The key will be checked out only to the person to whom the research room is assigned.
  • The key must be checked out each time you use the room and returned 15 minutes before the library closes. Keys may not be taken out of the Park Library.
  • If the key is lost or not returned there will be a $50.00 replacement charge and a non-refundable $15.00 processing fee.
  • Rooms are available only during hours the library is open.
  • The door should be locked when leaving the room.
  • In order to accommodate the demand for Individual Study Rooms, usage is routinely monitored and rooms that have been checked out less than 25​ times per semester may be reassigned.
  • Personal furniture is not allowed and additional library furniture is not to be moved in to the room nor should furniture be removed.
  • Posters and other items should not be affixed to research room walls or windows.
  • No food is allowed; drinks are allowed in spill proof containers only.
  • All library material must be checked out. Material that cannot be checked out, such as reference books, journals, etc. cannot be kept in the room.
  • Library staff will check study rooms periodically. Material not checked out will be removed and returned to the shelves.
  • All individuals assigned an Individual Study Room are expected to follow all Park Library policies.
  • Rooms are meant to be used for individual research.​
  • The Library is not responsible for any lost or stolen items

Violation of any policy may result in room privileges being terminated
