Fences are going up and preliminary work is beginning on the future site of Central Michigan University's Center for Integrated Health Studies, located along Preston Street between Finch Fieldhouse and the Health Professions Building.

The $26 million, 50,000-square-foot facility, scheduled for a fall 2019 move in, will allow CMU health care programs to expand, said Thomas Masterson, dean of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions. The new structure will stretch north and south from the west side of the Health Professions Building.

Early stages of the project will include closures to existing sidewalks and construction of new paths, said Andy Virkler, CMU project manager.

An official groundbreaking ceremony will take place April 19.
