The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees will consider approval of more than 1,900 December graduates when it meets in formal session Thursday starting at 10 a.m. in the President's Conference Room of the Bovee University Center.
During its last meeting of 2017, the trustees will consider approval of $5.7 million in deferred maintenance projects for fiscal year 2018-19. Projects include masonry restoration, parking lot asphalt, roof replacement and field hockey turf replacement.
Also, during committee meetings Wednesday, trustees will be briefed about a proposal being developed for a new residence life project by Barrie Wilkes, vice president for finance and administrative services.
The board’s formal meeting agenda also includes consideration of approval on the use of proceeds from the sale of the Flint public television station as part of the Federal Communications Commission’s broadcast spectrum auction, as well as establishment of President Ross’ salary for 2018 and the election of Board of Trustees officers.
The following committee meetings will be open to the university community and the general public on Wednesday in the President's Conference Room. Agenda highlights include:
- Finance and Facilities – 2 to 2:45 p.m. — Associate General Counsel Mary Roy and English faculty member Elizabeth Brockman will update trustees on the gender equity committee, which oversees requirements for and compliance with Title IX in CMU athletics. Wilkes and Jonathan Webb, associate vice president for facilities management, also will provide an update on the FEMA grant related to this summer’s historic flood.
- Academic and Student Affairs – 3 to 3:45 p.m. — Student services, including academic advising and financial aid, will be discussed. Also, Provost Michael Gealt and Ian Davison, senior vice provost for the academic reorganization initiative, will provide an update on the academic organizational review.
- Trustees-Faculty Liaison – 4 to 5 p.m. — Ben Heumann, geography and environmental studies faculty member, and Katrina Piatek-Jimenez, mathematics faculty member, will present an analysis of the impact of proposed bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degree requirements.
- Trustees-Student Liaison – 5 to 6 p.m. — Student Government Association President Anna Owens will update trustees on SGA’s fall semester efforts.
