Central Michigan University hosts more than 500 events each year, many of which are free and open to the public. Highlighted events from Thursday, June 11, to Wednesday, June 17, include:

Food Truck Friday lunch — Friday

Central Michigan University Research Corp. will host a Food Truck Friday lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2625 Denison Drive. Local food truck vendors will be present, rain or shine. Some vendors accept credit, but cash is always a safe bet. Contact Elissa Gagne, 989-774-2424.

'Sacrifice and Service: The WWI Experience' exhibit — Saturday

Central Michigan University's College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences and the CMU Museum of Cultural and Natural History will open "Sacrifice and Service: The WWI Experience" from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bohannon Schoolhouse, located on the southwest corner of Preston Street and West Campus Drive. The exhibit will be open on Saturdays throughout summer and was designed and installed by CMU students taking a seminar course in advanced exhibit design and construction. Elite women's basketball camp — Saturday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host an Elite women's basketball camp for eighth through 12th grade students from 1 to 5 p.m. at the CMU Events Center. This fast-paced and advanced skills camp will give participants the opportunity to compete against the best players in the state and to prepare for play at the collegiate level. Cost is $35. Junior/senior football camp — Sunday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a football camp for high school students in grades 10 through 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Coaches from around the Midwest will offer instruction in physical testing and overall football technique. Helmets are required. Cost is $60, and bag lunches will be available to purchase for $5. Youth football camp — Monday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a youth football camp for students in third through fifth grades from 9 a.m. to noon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. CMU coaching staff and players will provide fun football activities and competition while teaching the basics of the game. No helmets are required, and popsicles will be provided. Cost is $50. Individual Skill Development softball camp — Tuesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host an Individual Skill Development softball camp for students in fifth through 12th grades from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Instruction in pitching, catching and offensive techniques including hitting, slapping, bunting, baserunning and video analysis will be provided. Future Stars football camp — Tuesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a Future Stars football camp for students in sixth through ninth grades from noon to 4 p.m. at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Instruction in overall football technique will be provided to develop the skills needed to compete at the high school level. Helmets are required. Cost is $60, and bag lunches will be available to purchase for $5. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

Chippewa Challenge High Intensity softball camp — Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a Chippewa Challenge High Intensity softball camp for students in ninth through 12th grades from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CMU softball players will provide strength and conditioning workouts, multiple practice sessions at a Division I pace, and game-play opportunities. Big Man football camp — Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a Big Man football camp for students in ninth through 12th grades from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Techniques in run blocking and pass protection will be taught to offensive and defensive line players. Helmets are required. Cost is $60, and bag lunches will be available to purchase for $5. Kicking/Punting/Long Snapping football camp — Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a Kicking/Punting/Long Snapping football camp for students in seventh through 12th grades from 9 a.m. to noon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Former Detroit Lion Jason Hanson will be a guest coach along with other special guests from the National Football League. Helmets are not required. Cost is $80, and bag lunches will be available to purchase for $5. Register online or call 989-774-2151.
