Central Michigan University hosts more than 500 events each year, many of which are free and open to the public. Highlighted events from Thursday, June 18, to Wednesday, June 24, include:

Food Truck Friday lunch — Friday

Central Michigan University Research Corp. will host a Food Truck Friday lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2625 Denison Drive. Local food truck vendors will be present, rain or shine. Some vendors accept credit, but cash is always a safe bet. Contact Elissa Gagne, 989-774-2424.

Women's basketball team camp — Friday through Sunday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a women's basketball team camp for ninth- through 12th-grade students that will start at 1 p.m. Friday and end at 1 p.m. Sunday at the CMU Events Center. A minimum of eight players per team and a $100 team registration deposit are required. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

Central Michigan University surplus auction — Saturday

Central Michigan University will auction surplus items including equipment, furniture and supplies to the public from 9 a.m. to noon at the Surplus Sales Building, 275 W. Bellows St. Call 989-774-3917.

'Sacrifice and Service: The WWI Experience' exhibit — Saturday

Central Michigan University's College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences and the CMU Museum of Cultural and Natural History will host "Sacrifice and Service: The WWI Experience," a student-designed exhibit, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bohannon Schoolhouse, located on the southwest corner of Preston Street and West Campus Drive. CHL Speaker Series presents sailor and author Al DeClercq — Saturday

Central Michigan University's Clarke Historical Library will host Al DeClercq, sailor and author of "Bernida: A Michigan Sailing Legend," for a free talk about the restoration and sailing of Bernida to victory in the 2012 Bell's Beer Bayview Mackinac Race from 2 to 4 p.m. in Park Library Auditorium. Grand Slam baseball camp — Sunday through Tuesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a Grand Slam baseball camp for students age 13 through 19 that will start at 6:15 p.m. Sunday at the Indoor Athletic Complex and end at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Theunissen Stadium. Cost is $180 for commuters and $255 for those staying in residence halls. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

Gymnastics camp — Sunday through Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a gymnastics camp for students in fourth through 12th grades that will start at 10 a.m. Sunday and end at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Center's gymnastic facility. Cost is $300 for commuters and $395 for those staying in residence halls. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

Individual Technique wrestling camp — Sunday through Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host an Individual Technique wrestling camp for students in seventh through 12th grades from Sunday through Wednesday at Rose Center. Cost is $280 for commuters and $365 for those staying in residence halls. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

High Intensity wrestling camp — Sunday through Friday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a High Intensity wrestling camp for students in seventh through 12th grades from Sunday through Friday at Rose Center. Cost is $380 for commuters and $450 for those staying in residence halls. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

Little League day camp — Monday through Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a Little League day camp for students age eight through 12 that will start at 9 a.m. Monday and end at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Theunissen Stadium. Cost is $130. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

Men's basketball day camp — Monday through Thursday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a men's basketball day camp for students age six through 14 that will start at 9 a.m. Monday and end at 4 p.m. Thursday at the CMU Events Center. Students age six through 10 will participate in a daily morning session from 9 a.m. to noon, and students age 11 through 14 will participate in a daily afternoon session from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $89. Soccer academy day camps — Monday through Thursday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host soccer academy day camps for students in kindergarten through eighth grades that will start at 9 a.m. Monday and end at noon Thursday. Kindergarten through second-graders will participate in a Micro Chips academy from 9 to 10:30 a.m. daily, third- through sixth-graders will participate in an Advanced Chippewa academy from 9 a.m. to noon daily, and seventh- and eighth-graders will participate in an Elite Chippewa academy from 9 a.m. to noon daily. Costs are $65 for Micro Chips and $125 for Advanced and Elite Chippewas. Register online or call 989-774-2151.

Summer Music Institute faculty and staff showcase recital — Monday and Wednesday

Central Michigan University's School of Music will present a free concert of Summer Music Institute faculty and staff performing a variety of solo and chamber music pieces from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday in the Music Building's Chamichian Hall. Contact John Jacobson, 989-774-3738.

University Theatre presents 'Don't Dress for Dinner' — Wednesday

University Theatre students at Central Michigan University will present "Don't Dress for Dinner" at 7:30 p.m. in Moore Hall's Bush Theatre. Purchase tickets through CMU Ticket Central, 989-774-3045.

'Where the Sky Turns Black' art exhibit — Wednesday through Aug. 25

Central Michigan University's Park Library will host "Where the Sky Turns Black," an art exhibition of metal and concrete works by Cozette Phillip that evoke the influence of industry on the environment.
