Commencements celebrate CMU values, journeys

Many paths lead fired-up graduates to the stage for their degrees

Work hard. Take risks. Go the extra mile.

In the words of one Central Michigan University graduate, that’s how you get to where more than 3,100 achievers found themselves this weekend: crossing a stage to receive a degree, whether undergraduate, master’s, doctoral or — for the first time ever — doctor of medicine.

More than 2,000 undergraduate students, more than 800 master's and doctoral students, and the 62 graduates of the CMU College of Medicine’s inaugural class received diplomas during five weekend commencement ceremonies.

See moments of joy and pride from the May 2017 commencement ceremonies captured in photo galleries, immerse yourself in commencement sights and sounds in a special video, and meet one scholar whose journey to this moment started in the seventh grade.
