The Council for Advancement and Support of Education has announced its annual Circle of Excellence Awards, honoring outstanding work at universities and other higher education organizations.
University Communications received recognition in Strategic Communications/Issue and Crisis Management for its work during and after the March 2, 2018, on-campus domestic violence incident that left two people dead. CASE also recognized University Communications in Design/Specialty Pieces for its "Fire Up!" T-shirt swap and the 2018 shirt design.
WCMU Public Television's "Destination Michigan" program received its second regional Emmy Award from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Michigan Chapter.
The original series showcases people and places that make Michigan a remarkable place to live and explore. The Emmy-winning episode features stories about the S.S. Badger in Ludington, Little Traverse Boards in Petoskey, Bay de Noc Lures in Gladstone, a mermaid festival in South Haven and a float through the Inland Waterway.
Moriah Cooper, a Master of Public Health degree student from Detroit, has received the Martin Luther King Jr./César Chávez/Rosa Parks Future Faculty Fellowship for work toward her degree.
