The
Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation named
Moore Hall Television, CMU’s 24-hour cable outlet operated by students in
broadcast and cinematic arts, College Television Station of the Year for the 17th consecutive time.
“Receiving this honor for an unprecedented 17 years is certainly a point of pride for our students, faculty and staff,” said broadcast faculty member and News Central 34 advisor Rick Sykes. “The competition is ever more intense, and our students continue to produce programming that catches the attention of industry leaders.”
This award recognizes the strong and consistent work by BCA students on MHTV and the associated News Central 34 student-run news organization.
MHTV placed in eight of 10 award MABF categories, taking first place in current events program, public service announcement and innovations in digital media categories. It earned second place in hard news, daily sportscast and sports announcing team categories, and honorable mentions in daily newscast and talk show/scripted show categories.
