Provost Michael Gealt announces the appointment of Thomas Masterson as interim dean of The Herbert H. & Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions effective Jan. 6, 2015. Masterson currently serves as the associate dean of the college, a position he has held since June 2009.
Masterson's appointment follows the announced departure of CHP Dean Christopher D. Ingersoll. Ingersoll will leave CMU effective January 5, 2015, to become dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Toledo.
Masterson previously served as interim dean of The Herbert H. & Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions from September 2007 to June 2009. He began his CMU career as an assistant professor in the School of Health Sciences, later becoming an associate and full professor. He assumed the role of chair for the School of Health Sciences in 2004.
"Tom's leadership and experience will provide a smooth transition for the college as plans are formulated for a national search," Gealt said. "His continuity of leadership, paired with institutional knowledge and a strong understanding of the needs of the College of Health Professions will help us effectively and efficiently focus on these priorities in the best way for CMU."
Masterson's annual salary will be $162,000.
