President George E. Ross has appointed Barrie Wilkes as co-chair of Central Michigan University’s Shared Governance and Communications Committee.
Wilkes, vice president of Finance and Administrative Services, will serve a three-year term. He follows Sherry Knight, associate vice president for University Communications, who also served for three years.

Shared governance and communications at Central Michigan University is a dynamic collection of best practices for engaging, voicing, listening and discussing the interests of administrators, faculty, staff and students when planning, making and implementing decisions.
The committee and hallmarks of shared governance and communications specific to CMU were outlined in a 2013 report jointly signed by Ross, the provost and the chair of the Academic Senate.
