The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 1568 have ratified a new three-year collective bargaining agreement with Central Michigan University. AFSCME Local 1568 represents the university’s 188 service maintenance employees, which include custodial, groundskeepers, skilled trades, warehouse workers and others.
Basic terms of the agreement, which is effective July 1 through June 30, 2017, include:
- A 2 percent base or lump sum wage increase in the first year of the contract;
- An increase in the employee contribution to health care premiums from 10 percent to 11 percent to bring AFSCME members in line with other employee groups; and
- In years two and three of the agreement, union members will receive wage and health care contribution adjustments to match those granted to professional and administrative employees.
